The Business Academy Bexley, a public school in London reduced its lighting energy costs by 60%, saving EUR 25,000 ($34,860) and reducing CO2-equivalent emissions of 125 tons annually after upgrading their lighting system with LEDs and adaptive wireless controls. The school put zero capital investment for the project with a seven-year payback financing scheme, while the saving in power bills itself can pay back the bank already.

With a predominant glass structure that allows in a significant amount of natural light, the building is ideal for energy-saving lighting control. The Business Academy Bexley implemented a series of energy-efficiency improvements in their lighting system to reduce the school’s overhead and maintenance costs. More than 2000 existing light fixtures were replaced with LED recessed lights from 8point3, a local manufacturer in UK. In addition, the school installed a Lutron’s wireless control system that can automatically adjusting light levels based on the levels of natural light coming into each room.
