Description

As a part of our new state-of-the-art product line, this 7Watt GU10 LED light bulb is a big leap compared with the earlier model and also the brightest in the same series.

Assembled with cutting-edge thermoplastic material, this LED light comes with an insulating body and a completely insulated power driver. This design protects users from electric shocks. Thermoplastic material was recently introduced into the LED industry and has incomparable advantages over traditional aluminum material besides itspretty ivory-like look. Its high radiation ratio enables it to dissipate heat quickly, and consequently brings excellent cooling effects, which directly contributes to a longer and more stable service life.

Cooling fin:

The specially engineered prismatic grooves and ventilation slots enhance the convection and bring superior cooling effect. It safeguards users against being burnt by the heat sink when replacing bulbs.

Flexible dimming options:

Purchase based on your needs. We have dimmable and non-dimmable versions of this light bulb. For dimmable
version, please click here.

Energy-saving:

Using this 7W LED down light to replace your old 60 halogen bulb can cut you electric bill significantly & immediately. Its estimated yearly cost is about 2.24 dollars (based on 8hrs/day, 11¢/ kWh, cost depends on rates and use) while a halogen is 19.3 dollars.

Let's do a math:

Electricity consumption of LED 7W LED bulb: 7W × 8Hrs × 365=20.44Kwh;
Electricity consumption of 60W halogen bulb: 60W× 8Hrs × 365=175Kwhh;
--Comparison result:
1 LED bulb = 1/7 halogen bulbs

Long life span:

LED spotlight: approx. × 30,000Hrs;
Halogen bulb: approx. × 1500Hrs;
--Comparison result:
1 LED bulb = 20 halogen bulbs

Life span: 30,000 hours

We purchased 6 of these bulbs about 6 months ago, and while we love them, there are a few things that we wished we had known about before we purchased them.

First, I should mention that 2 of our 6 bulbs have died in the first 6 months, and that fact alone dropped most of the stars from my review. We had halogen bulbs in this fixture for three years before I replaced them with these LED's, so I don't think the fixture is to blame here. Torchstar's customer service and RMA process were good, but paying a price premium for these and then having to pay $3 for shipping every time one of these fails is something to be aware of.

Second, these bulbs do generate a slight hum when dimmed at certain levels, and it seems to be just a little bit worse than other bulbs that I have. The primary factors in these hums are the power source first, then dimmer, then lights. I know our power isn't the cleanest, but we did get better dimmer switches which have helped. I do believe that TorchStar has one of the better LED's out there, and I have had much, much worse ;)

Third, and most importantly, my wife loves incandescent lighting, so finding a good warm white LED was at the top of her list. After seeing several other brands, I would say this is one of the closest I've seen to traditional incandescent.

Finally, I'm not sure why, but our cameras do not seem to like these lights. I'm not sure if it is the hue or what, but our cell phones don't focus well and I have to adjust the white balance on our DSLR to get good photos. Not a deal breaker for how nice these bulbs are, but it is something to be aware of.

Now, if none of those are deal breakers (and they haven't been for us), these bulbs are absolutely fantastic. I applaud TorchStar for actually putting a lot of their bulbs through UL certification, providing exact measurements of the bulbs so you can make sure they fit in your housing, and a very accurate lumen output measurement and degree of spread. I wish all LED bulb manufacturers would be this forthcoming with details! Kudos TorchStar :)
